Hello... I'm Julie Oldfield, a mixed media artist based in Lyme Regis, in the UK. Here is a collection of my latest works.

About Me

Portrait of Artist Julie Oldfield

Originally from Peak District coming from an Interior Design background, I now live on the Jurassic Coast near Lyme Regis. This coastline, with large skies and changing tones, inspires much of my work. The Mixed Media paintings often incorporate materials from the area, such as sand and seawater, giving a unique character to each piece. I’ve recently started to paint on metal, which gives shimmering impressions of sunlight on the landscapes. Extensive travel has given me opportunities to paint many different types of landscapes – from desserts in the Middle East to rainforests in Latin America. Travel and painting is a good combination, dangers and pitfalls of the unknown add excitement to each piece of work. I have exhibited in Dubai, Cape Town and had work accepted by the South West Academy. I teach my painting techniques in workshops and prints of my work are also available.

Light Upon Water

Icon

This Exhibition lifts the essence of light that plays upon a scene and encapsulates it to quite remarkable effect upon the canvas. Capturing the combinations of light and water, to portray the way they play together – sometimes people are allowed to join the game, at other times its just the light and water.

Held at The Cartshed Gallery, Shaftesbury, Dorset, from the 5th Dec - 2nd Feb 1012
